Beginner
Under 1 Hour

My Fall mantle combines rich textures with modern pieces to achieve a luxe glam Fall look. To add height and dimension, I created an abstract floating leaves DIY for my mantle. It's SUPER simple to make, & creates a flowy movement look to the space!

Instructions
  • Step 1
Gather all your supplies for the project. There's minimal supplies you need for this fun Fall DIY!
  • Step 2
Lay your velvet fabric face down, and position the foam board on top. Cut off the excess fabric, leaving about 1 inch on each sides to fold over the back of the board.
  • Step 3
Spray the edges of the foam board with the spray adhesive.
  • Step 4
Fold over the fabric on all four sides. Press firmly for a couple of seconds to get the adhesive to stick to fabric.
  • Step 5
Repeat spraying the adhesive and folding sides of fabric around all the edges. You can cut off excess fabric after you fold down the edges.
  • Step 6
Repeat steps for all 3 foam boards. Now you have 3 velvet covered wall art pieces!
  • Step 7
I hung my 3 velvet covered foam boards with these self adhesive clips with plastic brackets. The foam board slid right in and held great!
  • Step 8
I spray painted my leaves metallic colors to go with my glam Fall mantle, but you can also leave the leaves the way they are for a more natural look. I used the same spray adhesive and sprayed the back of the leaves and pressed them to the velvet covered foam boards.
  • Step 9
I placed the leaves in sporadically across the boards in an upwards floating pattern, as if to seem like they are blowing in the Autumn breeze. You can use as many leaves as you want, and go as high or wide on your wall as you like!
