Instructions
  • Step 1
Gather your materials for your project. A thick fabric like Duck Canvas works best. You can also get creative and add different textured materials for the edging. I used cream ball fringe and faux Sherpa fur for the edging and thick alpaca yarn for the tassels.
  • Step 2
Cut your Duck canvas into a circle by using a pencil and a string. Find the center of the fabric and then measure to the outer edge. Take this measurement and cut your string to this length. Next attach the string to the pencil. Holding the string down in the center of the fabric stretch the string all the way out and use the pencil to draw the circle onto the fabric. Pivoting on the center where you are holding the string draw the circle all the way around.
  • Step 3
Use the pencil line you drew as a guide and cut the circle out of the fabric. Also cut a slit half way across the circle to allow it to be placed around your tree.
  • Step 4
Cut the faux Sherpa fur into 1.5” strips. Attach the faux Sherpa fur using hot glue to the outer edge of the circle leaving 1/4” of the Duck fabric along the edge. This craft faux Sherpa is great because it bends without creasing while following the rounded edge. Next attach the ball fringe using hot glue to the fabric edge you left exposed.
  • Step 5
Make your tassels using the yarn. Loop the yarn in 6 equal loops. Use another piece of yarn to tie around the top. Then cut off the bottom loops to create a tassel.
*You can see my full tassel tutorial (with picture instructions) on my wood bead garland tutorial here on the Joann App.
  • Step 6
Attach the tassels to the edge of the ball fringe using a small piece of yarn. (I spaced mine every 6 ball)
Then enjoy your beautiful tree skirt you created!
